Janet and Tony Castor started Jefferson County Land Title in 1974, tirelessly building a client base and a Title plant of county documents from which to research properties in Jefferson County. Janet Castor retired and passed the mantle to Kim Reese, who has built a multi-talented team of licensed Title Agents. And Tony Castor, an attorney with 40 years of real estate experience, decided to keep practicing and maintain his office in our building. He has made a commitment to the continued success of the title company and often consults when complex issues present themselves.
Our business is part research, part finance with a generous dose of legal compliance knowledge and problem solving thrown into the mix. We never know what kind of situation may present itself on any given day. It takes a mix of different personality types and different problem solving methods to offer our customers solutions to Title and closing difficulties. In addition to our staff, we have underwriting attorneys at our disposal with both of our underwriters, both of whom are national providers with really deep pockets. Their sole function is to support agents like us by giving us advice, legal assistance and written approval allowing us to issue an Owner’s Title Insurance Policy and/or a Lender’s Title Insurance Policy to protect our customers from any consequences if a future problem arises.
In order to offer Title insurance policies and insured closings, all employees are licensed Title insurance agents and must comply with continuing education requirements in order to renew their license.
